Research Group Seminar Winter 2011

The event was situated in the Seminar Hotel Jonathan, an establishment which focuses on providing a dedicated environment for learning and personal development. Over two days my colleagues and I gave talks about their current research status in the field of software engineering. In particular, many approaches focused on structured definition of software knowledge in the pre-programming stage. For example, one of my colleagues presented a concept to derive software structures from knowledge about the application domain. Hereby, the knowledge about the application domain is expressed in terms of simple statements such as “a bank customer withdraws money from his bank account”. Then entities like “bank, customer, account” and activities like “withdraw” are extracted and converted into executable steps.

My contribution to the seminar was a little off topic, as I was presenting the 3D multi-touch prototype which I previously introduced at IEEE VR 2011. Nevertheless it was an entertaining presentation and I could engage a little into discussions about the topic with my fellow colleagues. To give you the chance to follow the topic and the discussion also outside the scope of our research group I posted the slides on slideshare.

Feel free to comment about the presentation. ;-)
