Digital Factory & Simulation
Master-level course on Digital Factory and Computer Simulation (including practical exercises with the discrete event simulation software JaamSim).
đ¯ Learning Goals
- â Understand discrete event simulation principles and concepts.
- â Build practical layout models with the discrete event simulation software JaamSim.
- â Analyze production bottlenecks, throughput, and resource utilization.
đ Course Syllabus & Details
Welcome to the Digital Factory & Simulation course! This master-level course bridges the gap between industrial design processes and computational validation.
Course Overview
In modern manufacturing, building physical prototypes to test layouts is expensive and time-consuming. Discrete Event Simulation (DES) allows engineers to create high-fidelity virtual twins of factories, run experiments, and optimize configurations before a single machine is purchased.
Syllabus Highlights
- Introduction to DES: Underpinning mathematics, queueing theories, and time-advance mechanisms.
- JaamSim Essentials: Hands-on navigation, layout positioning, object configuration, and route setups.
- Advanced Flow Control: Custom scripting, assembly/disassembly processing, and routing expressions.
- Data Analysis & Optimization: Interpreting output logs, calculating confidence intervals, and identifying bottlenecks.
